Boleyn Recovery & Fleet Services Ltd is seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic & ATF Supervisor to take charge of our Authorised Testing Facility (ATF) HGV testing suite. This is a supervisory role where you will lead HGV MOT preparations, inspections, and quality control, ensuring our 100% first-time pass rate is maintained. You will also be responsible for managing the ATF operations, liaising with DVSA, and overseeing the smooth running of the testing facility.
Key Responsibilities:
✔ Supervise & Manage the ATF Testing Suite – Ensure the efficient operation of our HGV testing facility.
✔ Vehicle Inspections & Pre-MOT Preparation – Inspect, diagnose, and prepare vehicles to meet DVSA test standards.
✔ Maintain 100% First-Time Pass Rate – Oversee quality control and ensure high testing standards.
✔ Liaise with ATF Admin & DVSA – Manage communications with the admin team and DVSA testers for test scheduling and compliance.
✔ Tachograph Installations – Carry out and oversee the installation of tachographs as required.
✔ Ensure Compliance & Safety – Keep up to date with industry regulations and ensure all work meets legal and operational standards.
✔ Oversee Workshop Operations – Manage workload, prioritise tasks, and ensure a smooth workflow.
What We’re Looking For:
🔹 Qualified HGV Mechanic (Level 3 or equivalent) with experience in vehicle inspections and MOT preparation.
🔹 Strong Leadership & Supervisory Skills – Experience in managing a team or workshop environment.
🔹 Excellent Knowledge of DVSA Testing Standards and ATF procedures.
🔹 Tachograph Installation Experience (training can be provided if needed).
🔹 Organisational & Communication Skills – Ability to coordinate testing schedules and liaise with multiple stakeholders.
🔹 Hands-On Approach & Inspections – Willingness to be involved in mechanical work while overseeing the ATF.

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV Mobile Service Van Mechanic to join our team at Boleyn Recovery & Fleet Services. In this role, you will operate from a fully equipped service van and respond to roadside repairs, perform on-site servicing, and manage on-site clinics for HGVs and other large commercial vehicles.
This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires excellent technical skills, problem-solving ability, and a commitment to maintaining the reliability and safety of our clients' fleets.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to roadside repair callouts for HGVs, diagnosing and fixing issues to minimise downtime.
- Perform scheduled on-site servicing for HGVs at client locations.
- Manage on-site clinics, providing diagnostics, routine maintenance, and minor repairs for commercial fleets.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using modern diagnostic tools and techniques.
- Complete repairs, including brakes, suspension, exhausts, and other HGV components.
- Ensure all work meets safety standards and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain accurate records of completed work, including parts used and recommendations for additional maintenance.
- Communicate effectively with clients to provide updates and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Adhere to health and safety protocols and maintain the cleanliness and organisation of your service van and tools.
About You
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience as an HGV mechanic with a focus on roadside repairs and on-site servicing.
- Strong technical knowledge of HGV mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment effectively to identify and resolve faults.
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
- A valid UK driving licence (HGV licence is advantageous but not essential).
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
- A strong commitment to health and safety and high-quality workmanship.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in managing on-site fleet clinics is advantageous.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Welding or fabrication experience is a bonus.

As a key player in maintaining our 100% ATF pass rate, you will lead a team of skilled technicians to deliver high-quality results while ensuring the workshop runs smoothly, efficiently, and safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Workshop Operations: Supervise and manage the daily workflow to ensure the efficient and timely completion of all jobs.
- MOT Standards: Oversee and maintain a 100% ATF pass rate, including MOT preparation, conducting quality checks, and presenting vehicles for testing.
- Productivity: Dedicate 50% of your time to hands-on tasks, including diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs of HGVs, LGVs, and other commercial vehicles.

- Health & Safety: Ensure full compliance with all health and safety regulations and maintain a clean, safe working environment.

Qualifications
- Proven experience in a commercial vehicle workshop management role.
- Strong technical knowledge of HGVs, LGVs, and other commercial vehicles, including diagnostics and repairs.
- Extensive experience in MOT preparation and presenting vehicles for testing.
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
- Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to upholding high standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
